Qavvik Environmental Associates is a team of environmental professionals and Associates offering Arctic and Boreal expertise in a wide range of disciplines, including both Terrestrial and Marine Wildlife Inventory and Research, Aquatics (Fish and Fish Habitat), Vegetation Ecology, Soils and Terrain, Traditional Knowledge, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS).

Our Senior Wildlife Biologist’s first venture into the Arctic was in 1972 as a member of a team to survey the Porcupine Caribou Herd, part of the Environmental Assessment for the proposed Mackenzie Valley Gas Pipeline.

Since 2003, members of our team have been individually and collectively conducting wildlife baseline, habitat assessments and monitoring surveys for mining projects in the Kivalliq and Kitikmeot regions of Nunavut, NWT and the Yukon.

Projects
Projects with which members of our team have been involved include Agnico-Eagle’s Meadowbank Gold, Areva Resources Canada Inc.’s Kiggavik and Cameco Corporation’s Turqavik-Aberdeen Uranium projects in Kivalliq, Nunavut; Sabina Gold and Silver Hackett River, the Bathurst Inlet Port and Road, MMG Ltd.’s Izok Corridor and Newmont Mining Corporation’s Doris North Hope Bay projects in Kitikmeot, Nunavut; the Inuvik to Tuktoyaktuk Highway in the Northwest Territories and the Mackenzie Gas Pipeline in the Yukon and NWT.
